William “Bill” Morgan Malone, Jr., 85 years of age, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at his home in Cypress, TX after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born January 8, 1937, in Washington D.C. to William M. and Dorothy (Whelpley) Malone. He was the oldest of two sons. Bill graduated from Denison High School in 1955.
Bill graduated from Denison High School in 1955. He later went on to receive degrees from Baylor University and The American University in Washington D.C., graduating with a master’s degree in physics.
Bill married Deanie Killion on September 5, 1960. From this union, two sons were born.
Bill served his country as a Flight Surgeon Medic in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Turkey in the late 1960s. Bill’s varied and successful career included Deputy Director of the Computer Science Department at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, founded Malone and Associates, one of the first computer consulting firms in the 1980s, Enron in Omaha, NE, and TeamQuest in Clear Lake, IA. Bill saved the best for last, however, retiring in 2005 as an executive with Temple-Inland Inc. in Austin, TX.
Bill had many hobbies including golf, tennis, and swimming. He enjoyed many memorable Member-Guest golf tournaments with his son Bill. He never stopped learning and even after retiring, he continued to study computer programming books among other things. He loved reading his local newspaper every morning and would often work the crosswords with ease. He loved his grandkids and was a hands-on grandpa, always taking his grandchildren to parks and teaching them how to drive golf carts, and going to many school events. His family was his top priority, and he always had the camcorder out every Thanksgiving recording many, mundane moments that now will be forever considered precious. He never missed a chance to compliment his wife’s cooking, proclaiming her the best cook in 49 states or 35, or 44, or 27…and always changing the number and making us chuckle like it was the first time we heard his joke. His absence leaves a hole in our hearts. We were blessed to call him Dad, Grandpa, Pappy, and Grandad. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and
