Susie was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 8, 1954, to Morton Taylor Walker and Betty Jean Hines Walker. Susie graduated from Sherman High School in 1972. A die-hard Texan and unwavering patriot, she served in the United States Army at Fort McClellan, Alabama and Fort Carson, Colorado from 1973-1975. Susie was married to John Rickard for a short time before independently raising her two children, Jonathan and Ryan.
Susie’s life was dedicated to her children, family, and friends. Never meeting a stranger, Susie’s outgoing and light-hearted personality was infectious to all who knew her. Although known to many as Susie, her most coveted names were Mom, Gram, Grammy, and Gamster.
Susie worked for many years at Raytheon as a Procurement Facilitator. She also served as an elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church. She selflessly dedicated her last 15 years to caring for others – working as an at-home aide for the elderly while also supporting her sons and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Susie fiercely loved her family and friends, always up for a great conversation and brought life to any gatherings she attended. She was extremely independent and loyal to her loved ones, never hesitating to leap into action when anyone needed her. Always the adventurer, she loved taking vacations with friends and traveling to visit her son’s family.
Preceded in death by her parents Taylor Walker and Betty Walker Cameron, Susie is survived by her children: son Jonathan McRae Rickard, his wife Laura Rickard and their two children Aidan McRae and Katelynn Taylor Rickard; son Ryan Earl Rickard, his wife Christi Rickard, their daughter Skylar Coulston and great grand-children Raylie, Ryder, and McKenna Coulston, sister: Cynthia Walker Jung, her husband Walter and nephew William; brother: John Taylor Walker, his wife Debbie and nephews and nieces Brandon Taylor Walker, Casey Dean Walker, Haley Erin Walker, Ashleigh Walker Davis and her husband Jordan, and great nieces Ella, Emily, and Evelyn.
