Volleyball Roundup — Lady Panthers beat Howe; TCS sweeps
HOWE — Jaiden Tocquigny had 13 kills and three blocks as Bells defeated Howe, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 25-11, in district action.
Gabby Smith also put down 13 kills, Kayton Arnold chipped in four kills and three digs, Cheznie Hale handed out 22 assists, Emma Downing added five aces and Mia Moore collected six digs for Bells (7-6, 2-2), which hosts Bonham on Tuesday night.
Howe, which dropped to 0-4 in district play, hosts Whitewright on Tuesday.
Gunter 3, Bonham 0
In Gunter, Hanna Rubis put down 13 kills as Gunter beat Bonham, 25-18, 25-16, 25-11, in a battle of District 11-3A unbeatens.
Rayanna Mauldin added 12 kills and Abby Elmore chipped in 10 kills for Gunter (13-1, 4-0), which is now tied with just Blue Ridge atop the standings.
The Lady Tigers will host Pottsboro on Tuesday night.
Blue Ridge 3, Pottsboro 0
In Blue Ridge, the Lady Cardinals lost against co-leader Blue Ridge, 25-17, 25-22, 25-12, in 11-3A action.
Pottsboro (9-4, 2-2), which dropped into a tie with Bells for fourth place, will travel to Gunter on Tuesday night.
Blue Ridge (11-6, 4-0) plays at Leonard on Tuesday night.
Van Alstyne 3, Gainesville 0
In Van Alstyne, the Lady Panthers picked up a 25-12, 25-3, 25-13 victory against Gainesville in district action.
Van Alstyne (11-4, 3-1), which holds second place by a half game over Aubrey and Melissa, has the district bye on Tuesday before hosting Celina on Friday.
Gainesville dropped to 1-13 overall and 0-4 in district play.
Callisburg 3, Whitesboro 0
In Callisburg, Libby Langford had 10 kills and four digs for Whitesboro but second-place Callisburg earned the 25-17, 25-18, 25-20 victory in district action.
Elly Harper totaled five kills, nine digs and seven assists, Jenna King chipped in four kills and five digs, Aubri Falco finished with 14 assists, eight digs and three kills and Abby Robinson collected 18 digs for Whitesboro (3-9, 1-3), which hosts Paradise on Tuesday night.
Callisburg (8-6, 7-6) is tied with Pilot Point and Ponder for second in the standings.
Boyd 3, S&S 0
In Boyd, the Lady Rams suffered a 25-11, 25-10, 25-5 loss against first-place Boyd in district action.
S&S, which dropped to 1-9 overall and 0-4 in district play, will host Pilot Point on Tuesday night.
Boyd is now 16-2 overall and 4-0 in district play.
Tom Bean 3, Sam Rayburn 0
In Ivanhoe, Chloe Farrer had seven kills, 17 digs and three blocks as Tom Bean gained sole possession of first place after a 25-7, 25-10, 25-17 victory against Sam Rayburn in district play.
Kyndle Selman put down six kills, Kaitlyn Lind added five kills, Laramie Worley totaled nine digs, five aces and three kills, Delaney Hemming collected eight digs, Emma Lowing chipped in four digs and three aces and Raylynn Adams handed out 20 assists to go with 12 aces and nine digs for Tom Bean (10-4, 4-0), which has won eight straight matches.
The Lady Tomcats will play at Wolfe City on Tuesday night.
Collinsville 3, Tioga 2
In Collinsville, Taylor Sheppard had 12 kills and five blocks as the Lady Pirates rallied for a 12-25, 11-25, 25-23, 25-19, 15-10 victory against Tioga in district action.
Katie Johnson added seven kills and 18 digs, Addisyn McDonnell chipped in five kills and four blocks, Abby Martin put down five kills, Madison Ashton collected 19 digs and Haidyn Bryson finished with 27 assists and 16 digs for Collinsville (5-9, 2-2), which plays at Trenton on Tuesday night.
Tioga, which dropped to 3-1 in district play, will host Sam Rayburn on Tuesday.
Denton Braswell 3, Denison 0
In Little Elm, the Lady Yellow Jackets were swept by Denton Braswell to close out their opening weekend of the season.
Denison (0-2) will host Wichita Falls on Tuesday night.
The Lady Jackets started the weekend with a 25-10, 25-6, 25-10 loss against Denton Ryan.
Texoma Christian 3, Lucas Christian 0
In Lucas, Kenzie Poe put down eight kills as Texoma Christian closed out non-district play with a 25-19, 25-6, 25-20 victory against Lucas Christian.
Annika Hogan handed out 19 assists to go with five kills and two aces, T’a nne Boyd totaled seven digs and four kills and Claire Tarpley chipped in five digs and five kills for Texoma Christian (1-5), which opens TAPPS District 2-2A action at Muenster Sacred Heart on Tuesday.
