Sherman man charged with murder in Friday shooting

Monday morning, Sherman Police announced that a Sherman man faces murder charges in the death of 37-year-old Jeremy Obar who was shot Friday at a residence in the 1500 block of South Austin Street.

SPD Sgt. Brett Mullen said in a release that police were called to that residence around 7:30 a.m. Friday by Beau Watson who said he had shot an intruder in his home.

“Upon arrival, officers located 37-year-old Jeremy Obar deceased in the residence,” the release said.

“Sherman detectives, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, began an in-depth investigation into the incident. It was determined the shooting was premeditated and Beau Watson acted intentionally and maliciously in shooting/killing Jeremy Obar,” the release continued.

Watson was placed under arrest on a charge of murder and transported to the Grayson County Jail.

Grayson County Court records show Watson is being held on a $500,000 bond.
