Sherman, Denison police answer calls for service
The Denison Police Department received more than 100 calls for service between midnight Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday.
Of those calls, more than 20 of those calls were to report suspicious activity. Five calls were for the police to perform welfare checks, and five calls were classified as misdials or hang up calls.
Seven calls were related to noise compliants or animals. 14 entries on the call log were for traffic stops.
Three calls were about vehicle theft, burglary of a vehicle or abandoned vehicles. There were two calls about burglary alarms.
Criminal mischief - On Wednesday, an officer was dispatched to a motel in the 1800 block Texoma Pkwy in reference to a male trespassing on the property. The male had previously been given a trespass warning for the property. An officer located the male lingering in the parking lot. He was arrested for criminal trespassing and transported to the GCSO jail.
Possession of a dangerous drug - On June 10, Sherman Police conducted a traffic stop of a male for multiple traffic offenses near 500 North Walnut Street. This driver was identified by his Texas Identification Card. He did not have a driver`s license or insurance. A vehicle search was conducted due to the odor of marijuana. This search revealed a bottle with a controlled substance. He was placed under arrest and booked into Grayson County Jail for possession of a dangerous drug and driving while license invalid (with no insurance).
Burglary - On Tuesday, a male complainant made telephone contact with an officer regarding a theft. The complainant stated an unknown suspect stole property from his vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of a residence located in the 2300 block of West Taylor Street in Sherman, Texas. The incident occurred between June 7-8. A burglary of a vehicle report was generated.
Proof of financial responsibility - On June 10, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of E. Pecan Street. The driver was arrested for no proof of insurance and was transported to Grayson County Jail.
Failure to identify - On Wednesday, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of E. Pecan Street. The passenger was arrested after providing a false identification. He was transported to the Grayson County Jail.
