Here's how many people have received a COVID-19 vaccine in Grayson County in the last week

Grayson County has administered more than 24,408 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, as of March 9, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

That's up 17.18% from the previous week's tally of 20,830 COVID-19 doses administered.

As of March 9, 6.94% of people living in Grayson County are fully vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they've been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).

Gov. Greg Abbott's executive order to lift the state's requirement for facial coverings in public places will go into effect Wednesday, March 10.

Abbott pointed to the rising pace of coronavirus vaccinations, particularly of older adults, as one of the factors in his decision to lift the mask mandate and other pandemic restrictions.

One year of COVID-19: Fully vaccinated Texans will soon pass confirmed cases statewide

As of March 9, Texas reported 2,704,712 total cases of coronavirus, an increase of 1.37% from the week before.

The five counties with the highest percentage of their population fully vaccinated in Texas as of March 9 are Clay, Briscoe, La Salle, Throckmorton and Jeff Davis.
