GAINESVILLE — The Denison Lady Yellow Jackets closed the NCTC Tournament with a 5-3 loss in five innings against Whitesboro on Saturday after a pair of blowout victories on Friday.

GAINESVILLE — The Denison Lady Yellow Jackets closed the NCTC Tournament with a 5-3 loss in five innings against Whitesboro on Saturday after a pair of blowout victories on Friday.

Hailey Jackson was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI while Monica Eslick was 2-for-3, including a double, and drove in a run during the loss to Whitesboro.

The Lady Jackets started Friday with a 12-2 victory in four innings over Farmersville. Eslick was 3-for-3 — a triple shy of the cycle — with three runs and two RBI while Jayden Hunt was 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI and Dee Harris and Cassidy McDaris each scored a pair of runs.

Eslick, Melanie Garcia and Nicole Swindell each had three RBI in a 22-1 victory over North Crowley’s junior varsity to finish Friday’s action. Mady McAlester scored three runs while Hunt, McDaris and Micalah Hunt finished with two RBI for Denison (6-3-1), which plays a non-district game at Prosper on Tuesday night.

Whitewright 13, Dodd City 0

GAINESVILLE — Tori Perkins struck out 14 against Dodd City to clinch the championship of the NCTC Tournament on Saturday.

Perkins only allowed two hits for Whitewright (11-0), which won three games in the tournament by an average of more than 11 runs.

Sierra Cate and CJ Crane each homered in an 18-0 win against Valley View in the tournament opener. Perkins pitched a no-hitter in the Lady Cats’ win.

In the second tournament game, Tucker Caraway homered at the plate and allowed just one hit on the mound in 4-0 win against Bonham.

Whitewright opens district play at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Bells.

Whitesboro 5, Denison 3 (5)

GAINESVILLE — Katie Dean struck out nine and drove in a pair of runs as Whitesboro closed out the NCTC Tournament with a victory in five innings against Denison on Saturday.

Alexus Vanlandingham tripled and scored twice, Moriah Mitcheson tripled and drove in a run while Taren Dillion and Devyn Power chipped in RBI for Whitesboro.

In tournament action on Friday, Dean and Devyn Power each doubled and drove in two runs while Vanlandingham had two hits and stole two bases in a 10-2 victory in three innings over Fort Worth Castleberry.

Dean then allowed just one hit and struck out eight in a 4-0 victory in five innings against Gainesville. Stephanie Jones and Vanlandingham each chipped in two RBI for Whitesboro (9-2), which hosts Tom Bean on Tuesday in the District 11-2A opener.

Gainesville 13, Tom Bean 9 (5)

GAINESVILLE — Sarah Henderson and Katie Jones each went 3-for-3 and scored two runs as Tom Bean finished the NCTC tournament with a loss against Gainesville on Saturday.

Annie Bailey doubled, tripled and drove in three runs while Shelly Peterson doubled, tripled and had two RBI for Tom Bean (9-2), which opens District 11-2A play at Whitesboro at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

In tournament action on Friday, Bailey homered and Caroline Henderson and Shelby Motley doubled during a 5-1 win in five innings against Lindsay while Bailey struck out seven and didn’t give up a hit in a 16-0 win in three innings against North Crowley’s junior varsity. Caroline Henderson and Motley joined Bailey as Lady Tomcats with doubles.

Ponder 8, Gunter 5 (4)

GAINESVILLE — Kaylee Schmitz homered and drove in four runs during Gunter’s loss against Ponder to close out the NCTC Tournament on Saturday.

Yessica Ovalle was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Megan Bullard doubled and scored twice for Gunter (1-4).

In tournament action on Friday, Taylor defeated Gunter, 10-1, and Gunter defeated Nocona, 9-7.

Pottsboro Tournament

Pottsboro 21, Collinsville 5 (5)

POTTSBORO — Odalis Cardinas doubled twice as Pottsboro closed out its tournament with a victory against Collinsville on Saturday.

Justus Malone also doubled and Kenzie Wade tripled for the Lady Cardinals, who broke the game open with a nine-run fourth inning.

Earlier in the day Cardenas and Jessica Morse finished with doubles in a 13-11 loss against Aubrey.

Pottsboro (3-2) will open District 11-2A action at Howe on Tuesday night.

Van Alstyne Tournament

Van Alstyne 6, Melissa 0 (5)

VAN ALSTYNE — Keonni Conkle and Kelsey Smith had singles during Melissa’s loss to Van Alstyne in bracket play at the Van Alstyne Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

In tournament action on Friday, Melissa finished pool play with an 8-3 victory in four innings against Leonard. Smith and Conkle each went 2-for-3 while Rebecca Pittman doubled.

The Lady Cardinals opened bracket play with a 4-3 victory in five innings against Bells. Madison Boedeker drove in a run and scored another while Bailey Church doubled and scored for Melissa (4-7), which hosts Dodd City at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

S&S 14, Honey Grove 0

SADLER — The host Lady Rams finished their tournament with a perfect 4-0 mark after a victory against Honey Grove on Saturday.

Bland beat Ector, 21-7, on Saturday while Alvord topped Lindsay’s junior varsity, 13-3, and Muenster beat Lindsay’s JV, 13-6.

In tournament action on Friday, S&S defeated Ector, 9-0, Lindsay’s junior varsity, 7-1, and Alvord, 9-0, while Alvord defeated Muenster, 13-9, and Ector, 13-8.
