In a down year for Sherman, do-it-all back Tre’ Mask was counted on heavily to keep the Bearcats competitive.

And when Mask busted out, he did so in a big way. Mask scored a whopping seven rushing touchdowns in a Sept. 26 victory at McKinney North, a scoring total not seen in Sherman since 1927.

Mask is the Herald Democrat 2013 All-Texomaland Class 3A-4A Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 1,202 yards and 20 TDs in his final season with the Bearcats.

Mask, a three-year varsity starter, finished No. 2 on Sherman’s all-time list for career rushing touchdowns with 40, trailing only Waymon James (2006-08), who holds the record with 55. Mask also ended his high school run with 2,343 yards rushing, and is only the third Sherman back ever to have two 1,000-yard seasons in his career.
