LEONARD — Dylan Monck rushed for 218 yards and Ryan Nixon picked up 177 yards on the ground as the Leonard Tigers dismantled Clarksville, 70-34, in non-district action on Friday.


Leonard (4-0) opened the scoring when Nixon broke free on a 64-yard run. Monck ran for the two-point conversion to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead with 5:16 left in the first quarter.


Clarksville (0-5) scored early in the second period when T.J. Tinnell threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Rayzon Allen.


Leonard drove 67 yards for the next score with Monck rushing six times for 60 yards on the drive, including the final 15 for the touchdown.


Tinnell scampered in from two yards out to complete a 43-yard scoring drive for Clarksville. The kick was good which tied the game 14-all with 6:13 left in half.


Clarksville’s Clashon Gaffney then picked off a Nixon pass and returned it 46 yards for a touchdown.


Nixon next scored on a 12-yard run completing a 65-yard drive.


Two minutes later Nixon plunged in from four yards out to give Leonard a 28-20 lead.


Monck extended Leonard’s lead with a 33-yard run up the middle. One minute later Brex Schur intercepted a pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown.


Dylan Pelton recovered a Clarksville fumble at the 36. Three plays later Nixon connected with Garrett Weismer on a seven-yard touchdown pass and Leonard led, 49-20, with 8:44 left in third period.


Five minutes later Tinnell ran it in from three yards out to give Clarksville a score.


Brent Hicks scored on a 10-yard sweep to give Leonard a 56-27 lead with 9:21 left in game.


The teams continued to trade scores as Tinnell threw a 13-yard strike to Allen.


The next two Leonard scores came on 30-yard runs by Brandon Benton and Hicks.


Leonard will have a bye this week before opening district play against Whitewright at home.
