GAINESVILLE — Consistency was the key for senior running back Adam Berryman.

A year after becoming the focal point in the Leopards’ offense, Berryman was just as effective in leading Gainesville to another successful season.

Berryman finished with 1,921 yards and 25 touchdowns on 228 carries — a year after producing 1,676 yards and 25 touchdowns on 228 carries with one extra game in the regular season on the schedule.

Gainesville repeated as the District 9-3A champion and advanced to the Division II Region II semifinal before a loss to Gladewater ended the Leopards’ season at 11-1.

Berryman, who totaled 4,607 yards and 58 touchdowns in three seasons, had five 200-yard games and five games with at least three touchdowns. Two of those efforts came in both of Gainesville’s playoff victories.

After being selected as the 9-3A Offensive Player of the Year, Berryman has been chosen as the Herald Democrat All-Texomaland Class 3A-4A Most Valuable Player for the 2013 season.
