WHITESBORO — When the Bearcats needed Cody Ford to make a play on both sides of the ball, the senior came through time and again.

While he contributed 777 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing and another 414 yards and five TDs receiving on offense, Ford also impacted one of the area’s top defensive units.

Ford totaled 79 tackles, two sacks, three pass break-ups, four interceptions (one for a score) and was the 5-2A (I) Utility Player of the Year for his all-around work.

The Bearcats allowed just a shade over 200 yards per game after an area-round loss to New Boston.

For being a key member of the unit, Ford has picked up the honor as the Herald Democrat All-Texomaland Class 1A-2A Defensive Player of the Year.
