As the wintertime trout season winds down, the city of Sherman will host its first Family Fishing Derby this weekend at Pebblebrook Pond.

That will take place tomorrow thanks to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which will stock 1,570 rainbow trout for the area’s final shot at wintertime trout fishing fun.

Scheduled to run from 9 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, Feb. 29, anglers are invited to come out for a great time of fishing and family fun.

“Everyone is invited out to the first Family Fishing Derby event at Pebblebrook Pond!,” says the website. “With the assistance of Texas Parks and Wildlife we will be stocking the pond with trout fish to ensure that everyone there that day will have an opportunity to catch a fish.

“While there, we will have games, door prizes, and a hot dog lunch for everyone to enjoy. Grab your fishing poles, bait, and your tackle boxes to enjoy a morning fishing is Sherman!”
