The Denison Yellow Jackets earned their first points in District 10-5A action with a 1-1 tie against Princeton at Dr. Rene and Eva Gerard Field at Munson Stadium.


Josue Pavon scored the goal in regulation and then Denison (2-8-3, 0-2-1) picked up the extra point in the shootout by making four penalty kicks.


Cameron Wright, Pavon, Reece Stange and Anthony Cruz converted their attempts and Jesus Tello made a pair of saves on Princeton (3-10-3, 0-2-1) to clinch the shootout.


The Yellow Jackets travel to second-place Wylie East on Friday night.


Lovejoy 1, Sherman 0


In Sherman, the Bearcats suffered a shutout loss against first-place Lovejoy in 10-5A action at Bearcat Stadium.


Lovejoy (8-3-3, 3-0), which is the only undefeated team left in the district standings, notched the only goal in the first five minutes with a run down the left side.


Sherman had a couple of chances to pull even, including a pair of shots by Christian Chinchilla that just missed. He hit the post on one try and the Leopards were able to survive.


The Bearcats (6-4-4, 1-2) return to action when they host second-place McKinney North on Friday night at Bearcat Stadium.

Lovejoy 6, Sherman 0

In Lucas, the Lady Bearcats suffered a shutout loss against first-play Lovejoy in district action.

Sherman (5-10-1, 0-2-1) travels to McKinney North for a contest on Friday night at MISD Stadium.

Princeton 2, Denison 1

In Princeton, the Lady Yellow Jackets came up short in a district loss against Princeton.

Denison (6-8, 0-3) returns to action when it hosts Wylie East at Dr. Rene and Eva Gerard Field at Munson Stadium on Friday night.

Princeton (13-2-1, 1-1-1) will face first-place Lovejoy on Friday.
