After opening the season with five consecutive shutouts, the Sherman Bearcats lost against Denton Braswell, 4-2, in non-district action at Bearcat Stadium.

Braswell opened the scoring 12 minutes into the match and then went up 2-0 after a penalty on an inadvertent handball.

Sherman (3-1-2) battled back for a two-all tie at half-time. Noel Martinez scored from around 30 yards out and then Jose Nandin knocked in a loose ball in the box for the Bearcats’ second goal.

The score stayed that way until 16 minutes left when Braswell took the lead for good and then added an insurance goal to seal the victory.

Sherman returns to action on Thursday in the Longview Pine Tree Tournament.
