CALLISBURG — Zander Turner scored 30 points as Gunter outlasted Callisburg, 75-69, in overtime in the District 9-3A opener.


Kyle Watson added 24 points while Will Blansett and Trey Phillips each chipped in seven points for Gunter (19-2, 1-0), which was down 45-41 going to the fourth quarter before the game went to overtime with the score tied at 62.


Gunter hosts Whitesboro on Tuesday while Callisburg (17-4, 0-1) travels to S&S on Tuesday night.


Whitesboro 58, Pottsboro 44


In Whitesboro, Montana Morgan had 14 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals as the Bearcats opened 9-3A play with a victory against Pottsboro.


Tryston Gaines added 12 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks, Andrew Fletcher chipped in 12 points and four rebounds, Carson Hickman totaled eight points and four rebounds and Cade Acker finished with seven points and five rebounds for Whitesboro (11-9, 1-0), which plays at Gunter on Tuesday night.


Ponder 65, S&S 32


In Ponder, the S&S Rams lost their 9-3A opener against Ponder.


S&S will host Callisburg on Tuesday night.


District 10-3A


Whitewright 51, Bonham 34


In Whitewright, Kylan Watson scored 11 points as Whitewright won the district opener against Bonham.


Aaron Pitt and Dylan Cordell also finished with 11 points apiece while Reilly Evans chipped in 10 points for Whitewright (14-6, 1-0), which has the district bye on Tuesday before playing at Blue Ridge on Friday night.

Mount Pleasant 72, Sherman 65


In Mount Pleasant, Kasai Burton scored 36 points during Sherman’s non-district loss against Mount Pleasant.


Jalarien Wilson had nine points, Mason Gabriel added eight points and Xzavier Roberson chipped in six points for Sherman (7-14), which hosts Sulphur Springs on Tuesday night.


Van Alstyne 81, Caddo Mills 73


In Van Alstyne, the Panthers earned a non-district against Caddo Mills.


Van Alstyne will open District 10-3A action at Howe on Tuesday night.


Tioga 70, Chico 34


In Chico, Clay Mott scored 13 points as Tioga defeated Chico in non-district play.


Landon Thompson added 12 points, Marshall Lease chipped in 10 points and Tanner Yant and Mark Mayes each finished with eight points for Tioga (11-3), which hosts Era on Tuesday night.
