CADDO MILLS — The Van Alstyne Lady Panthers earned a 25-23, 25-15, 25-14 victory against Quitman in a Class 3A Region II area round match.

Van Alstyne (33-4) will face Ponder in the region quarterfinals next week. It is the second straight season and fourth time in six years the Lady Panthers have advanced to the third round.

Quitman finishes its season at 20-25.

Class 2A Region II

Collinsville 3, Poolville 2

In Denton, Collinsville knocked off Poolville, 25-20, 17-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12, in a 2A Region II area round match at Denton Ryan.

The Lady Pirates (36-10) will face Windthorst in the region quarterfinals next week. It is the second straight season Collinsville has reached the third round.

Poolville (37-4) had a 20-match winning streak snapped, dating back to a loss against Van Alstyne in the Whitesboro Tournament in late August.

Windthorst 3, Tioga 2

In Bowie, Carly Hough had 19 kills and four blocks for Tioga but the Lady Bulldogs' comeback attempt fell short as Windthorst earned a 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 9-25, 15-12 victory in a Class 2A Region II area round match.

Kassady Vandagriff put down 10 kills, Nicole Hill added seven kills and seven aces, Bekah Wineberg handed out 18 assists, Katy Jordan finished with 17 set assists, Haylie Dungan collected 21 digs and Meghan Mahoney contributed 10 digs for Tioga.

Windthorst will face Collinsville in the region quarterfinals next week.
