PRINCETON — The Sherman Lady Bearcats picked up their first win of the season with a 25-11, 25-16 victory over Alba-Golden to close out the Princeton Tournament on Saturday morning.


Kylie Jackman had six kills, Ryan Dobbs added five kills and Samantha Graham handed out 14 assists to go with four kills for Sherman (1-7), which started the day with a loss to Plainview. The Lady Bearcats lost against McKinney Christian and Bonham in tourney action on Friday.


Sherman hosts Sanger in non-district action at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Prairiland 2, Bells 0


In Paris, Bella Smith had five kills as the Bells Lady Panthers finished as the runner-up of the Chisum Tournament with a 25-12, 25-12 loss against Prairiland on Saturday.


Gabby Smith chipped in two kills and three digs and Cheyenne Floyd handed out eight assists for Bells (5-2), which plays at Quinlan Boles on Tuesday night.


The Lady Panthers advanced to the title match with a 25-13, 25-10 win against DeKalb. Bella Smith had nine kills and two blocks, Gabby Smith chipped in five kills and two digs, Kayton Arnold put down four kills and a pair of aces, Mia Moore collected eight digs and Floyd handed out 18 assists.


Bells started the day with a 25-23, 25-22 win over Howe. Bella Smith had 10 kills, five digs and two blocks, Gabby Smith finished with seven kills and nine digs, Carson Gafford put down five kills, Moore collected nine digs and Floyd handed out 24 assists.

Gunter 2, Lovejoy JV 0


In Lewisville, the Gunter Lady Tigers had a 27-25, 25-19 victory to capture the Division II Silver Bracket title at the ASC Tournament on Saturday.


Gunter (5-2) defeated Commerce and Plano’s junior varsity earlier in the day to advance to the title match.


Across three matches on Saturday, Shae Pruiett totaled 20 kills, 15 digs and three aces, Rayanna Mauldin added 16 kills and four aces, Jacee Childers finished with 25 digs and 70 assists and Nyah Ingram collected 33 digs.


In tournament action on Friday, the Lady Tigers beat Sunnyvale and lost to Bowie and Allen’s junior varsity.


Burkburnett Tournament


Whitesboro 2, Petrolia 0


In Burkburnett, Libby Langford had six kills, five digs, three assists and two aces as Whitesboro closed out the Burkburnett Tournament with a 27-25, 25-19 victory against Petrolia on Saturday.


Elly Harper had four kills, six assists and four digs, Aubri Falco totaled three assists and six digs while Chesney Wolf collected five digs for the Lady Bearcats.


Earlier on Saturday, Windthorst had a 25-18, 20-25, 25-15 win over Whitesboro. Harper had six kills, 11 digs and nine assists, Langford added five kills, six digs and five assists, Karley Wolf put down four kills and Emily Barker and Chesney Wolf each collected seven digs.


The Lady Bearcats started the day with a 15-25, 13-25 loss against Vernon. Harper had four kills, four assists and four digs, Cortlyn Cobb put down four kills, Langford chipped in three assists and four digs and Chesney Wolf collected four digs.


In pool play on Friday, Whitesboro went 1-3 with a 19-25, 10-25 loss to Burkburnett, an 18-25, 25-18, 25-21 win over Vernon Northside, a 23-25, 21-25 loss to Petrolia and a 20-25, 23-25 loss to City View.


In the victory, Langford had 10 kills, 10 digs and eight assists, Destiney McCord put down five kills, Harper totaled four kills, 17 assists and three digs, Jenna King contributed four kills and Falco chipped in three kills and five digs.


Langford had six digs, Falco handed out four assists and Harper finished with three kills and three assists against Burkburnett.


Against Petrolia, Harper had five kills, six assists and four digs, Langford totaled four kills, eight assists and four digs, King put down four kills and Chesney Wolf collected seven digs.


Falco had five kills, six assists, four digs and three aces against City View while Harper added three kills, six assists and four digs, Langford and Karley Wolf each chipped in three kills and Chesney Wolf collected five digs.

In Detroit, the Tom Bean Lady Tomcats took third place in the Detroit Tournament with a 25-12, 25-8 victory against Trenton on Saturday.


Tom Bean started the day with a 17-25, 22-25 loss against Detroit in the semifinals.


Chloe Farrer finished the day with 13 kills, Raylynn Adams had 32 assists, six digs and three aces, Kyndle Selman totaled four kills and three digs, Taylor Whitehurst collected 19 digs, Kaitlyn Lind put down eight kills and Emma Lowing chipped in seven kills, four digs, two aces and two blocks.


In non-district action on Friday afternoon, Tom Bean (4-2) suffered a 27-25, 16-25, 20-25, 12-25 loss against Leonard. Farrer had seven kills and two blocks, Whitehurst collected 14 digs, Laramie Worley totaled four digs and two kills, Adams handed out 19 assists, Lowing and Lind each put down four kills and Selman finished with three kills, three digs and a pair of aces for Tom Bean.


Mikayla Farber had eight kills, eight aces and 14 digs, Abby Wilson added five kills, six aces, five blocks and 13 digs, Taylor Reed handed out 12 assists and Allie Shulze collected 12 digs for Leonard.
