BELLS — Alexis Tanguma was 3-for-3 with four RBI and scored and also picked up the win, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out six, as Bells defeated Whitesboro, 11-2, to sweep a Class 3A Region II bi-district series on Friday night.


Bells (30-0) will face either Edgewood or Palmer in the area round this week.


Chesney Blount was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, Bella Smith was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI, Gabby Smith doubled, drove in a run and scored three times, Mia Moore homered, Cheznie Hale tripled and scored and Cheyenne Floyd doubled, drove in a run and scored for the Lady Panthers.


BreAnn Beste doubled and drove in a run, Rylee Russell doubled and scored, Jecca Autry walked twice and scored and Jenna Eugster drove in a run for Whitesboro (14-11), which was making its first playoff appearance since 2015.


Non-district


Valley View 8, Collinsville 3


In Valley View, Jennifer Lucas singled and drove in a run during Collinsville’s loss against Valley View in a playoff warm-up on Friday afternoon.


Katy Claytor walked twice and scored, Lexie Martin walked and scored, Brookelyn Haning, Bailey Cantrell and Kaitlyn Long all singled and Carrie Johnson scored for the Lady Pirates, who will face Valley Mills in an area round series at Fort Worth Brewer. Game 1 is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Games 2 and 3 are at 6 p.m. on Friday


Valley View (26-3) will face either Goldthwaite or Moody in the area round.

Bells 14, Prairiland 13


In Bells, Landon Nelson doubled, drove in two runs walked twice and scored three times as Bells edged Prairiland in non-district action on Saturday.


Matthew Connor was 2-for-4 with two doubles and scored three times, Tyler Hawthorne was 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored, Jacob Monroe singled, walked, drove in a run and scored, Trystan Mallory walked three times, drove in a run and scored three times and Lane Brown walked three times and scored for Bells (17-8), which opens the playoffs with a Class 3A Region II bi-district series against Pottsboro at Melissa. Game 1 is on Wednesday; Game 2 is on Thursday and Game 3 is on Friday. All start times are 7 p.m.


Melissa 7, Pottsboro 6


In Melissa, Jake Williams doubled and drove in two runs during Pottsboro’s walk-off loss in a non-district double-header on Friday.


Jackson Lipscomb singled, walked twice and scored, Jasek Hooker singled and walked twice, Hayden Kent walked twice and scored, Grayson Watson walked twice, drove in a run and scored and Robert Goins doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored for Pottsboro (20-4), which opens the playoffs with a Class 3A Region II bi-district series against Bells at Melissa. Game 1 is on Wednesday; Game 2 is on Thursday and Game 3 is on Friday. All start times are 7 p.m.


Trevor Brooks was 3-for-4 and a home run shy of the cycle with four RBI, Jayton Cepica was 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored, Isaiah Segovia was 3-for-3 and scored twice and Hayden Schafer homered for Melissa (21-9).


The two teams started with Melissa earning a 1-0 victory in eight innings.


Coby Langford and Goins each went 2-for-3, Lipscomb doubled and walked, Jett Carroll and Hooker singled and Langford, Kent and Drake Hunter combined on a two-hitter.


Schafer, Grayson Hurst and Kyle Leonard combined on the shutout and Dillon Youngblood scored on an error as the game’s only run for Melissa.


Valley View 9, Whitesboro 6


In Whitesboro, Chase Harding was 3-for-3, walked and drove in a run during Whitesboro’s non-district loss against Valley View on Friday night.


Jake McCorkle doubled, drove in two runs and scored, Scout Sanders doubled and scored three times, Cody Wolfe doubled, drove in a run and scored and Grant Beste walked and scored for Whitesboro (15-7), which opens the playoffs with a Class 3A Region II bi-district series against Bonham. Game 1 is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Anna with Game 2 at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Sherman’s Veterans Field and Game 3 at 7 p.m. on Friday at Veterans Field.
