LUCAS — The Denison Lady Yellow Jackets have four regional track qualifiers and the Sherman Bearcats also have a pair of regional entries after their performances at the District 9/10-5A area meet on Tuesday at Lovejoy.


The top four in each event advanced to the Class 5A Region II meet at UT-Arlington on April 26-27.


Faith Shaw, Zachareia Sommers, Maliyah Butler and Christina Hernandez advanced in the 400 relay with a third-place finish in 48.27 seconds.


Butler was third in the long jump at 17 feet, three and a half inches while Faith Shaw moved on in fourth place at 17 feet, one and a quarter inch.


Butler also advanced in the triple jump by clearing 35 feet, four and a half inches to place fourth. Jade Fry was eighth at 32 feet, 11 and three quarters inches.


Fry was sixth in the high jump while Shania Butler was seventh as each cleared five feet.


Shaw, Fry, Maliyah Butler and Hernandez were seventh in the 800 relay with a time of 1:46.18.


The 1,600 relay of Sommers, Cheyenne Grant, Maliyah Butler and Hernandez was eighth with a time of 4:27.24.


Shaw was eighth in the 100 with a time of 12.52 seconds.


Brilee Payne was sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.59 seconds and Taryni Gaines was eighth in 17.37 seconds.


Shania Butler was seventh in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.69 seconds and Payne was eighth in 57.47 seconds.


Sherman’s Landon Cole was third in the 110 hurdles in 14.74 seconds to advance while Anthony Holland also moves on with a third-place finish in the 300 hurdles at 40.46 seconds.


Gage Smith was eighth in the long jump at 18 feet, 11 and a half inches.


The Yellow Jackets’ lone entry was the 1,600 relay of Breylin Butler, Lionel Boone, Tarrence Gaines and Jadarian Price that finished eighth in 3:40.11.
