The Austin College baseball team exploded for 26 runs in a 26-0 Game 1 victory before falling, 12-5, in Game 2, wrapping up the weekend series having taken two of three from Schreiner University in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
In the opener , the ’Roos (7-14, 3-6) broke the program record for most runs scored in a SCAC contest, which they set last year with 21 in a win at Schreiner. Jake Webster went 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBI, Cody Goggins went 2-for-3 with six RBI, Oscar Gonzalez added a 3-for-5 performance, driving and Cody Johnson earned the win, allowing two hits in five shutout innings.
Gonzalez took the loss for in Game 2. Webster, James Wyche and Bennett Reagan each had two hits for Austin College, while Justin Alphonse drove in a pair of runs.
Austin College heads out on the road this weekend at No. 3 Trinity University, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday.
