Four area basketball players were named all-state selections by the Texas Girls Coaches Association for the 2018-19 season.
Denison senior Zya Nugent was among the 40 players selected in Class 5A. It was the third straight season Nugent was honored. She averaged 24.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 3.1 assists on the way to becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,835 points.
Gunter senior Tori Gittens was chosen for the Class 3A team.
In Class 2A, Collinsville juniors Brittney Fields and Carrie Johnson were among the players selected. Johnson, who averaged 23.5 points, 9.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 4.9 steals was also picked as a TGCA Class 1A-2A-3A All-Star. Fields averaged 22 points, 14.8 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 3.6 assists.
