A pair of Melissa Cardinals earned Class 4A all-state honors by the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors for the 2018 season.

Senior defensive lineman Collin O’Neal was voted to the first-team while junior quarterback Brendon Lewis was an honorable mention selection. Voting is based on regular season statistics only.

O’Neal was first-team all-state for the second straight season after totaling 97 tackles, 28 for a loss, six sacks, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and three pass breakups.

Lewis, who was first-team all-state last year, was chosen honorable mention after completing 117-of-206 passes for 2,470- yards with 35 touchdowns and two interceptions and rushing for 818 yards and nine touchdowns on 115 carries.
