More than a dozen area football teams had students earn academic all-state honors by the Texas High School Coaches Association for the 2018 season.


In Class 5A, Denison had eight selections. Ryan Riddle was on the Elite team, Cameron Fallon, Hamza Javed and Peyton Reed were on the first team, Zachary Bellows, Stephen Fulenchek and Nate Maulsby were on the second team and Jason Lewis was honorable mention.


Sherman had four players chosen. Cody Hunter was on the second team and Blaise Bentsen, Richy Clark, William Steele were honorable mention.


In Class 4A, Celina had 11 players selected. Eli Price was on the first team, Stockton Blanco, Cooper Buchanan, Colton Dunn, Caden Jackson, Zachary Poston and Bryson Wagner were on the second team and Will Anderson, Blake Bunnell, Riley Plunkett and Trenton Williams were honorable mention.


Melissa had five players picked. Jack Greer was an Elite selection, Connor Newberry and Collin O’Neal were on the second team and Brian Lewis and Marco Morales were honorable mention.


Anna had four players chosen. Nicholas Reid was named to the Elite team while Zach Howard, Warren Mason and Kareem Mason earned second-team honors.


In Class 3A, Bonham had five players chosen. Tyler Rodriguez was on the first team, Noah Shellman was on the second team and Daniel Dowling, Sam Porter and Hayden Stevenson were honorable mention.


Whitesboro had four players picked. Graham Ledbetter was on the first team, Scout Sanders was on the second team and Riley Dickson and Noah Greisen were honorable mention.


Gunter had two players selected. Evan Gonzalez and Kennon Magers were on the second team.


Bells had two players chosen. Christian Smith was on the first team and Brandon Garcia was on the second team.


S&S manager Autyme Cheek was an honorable mention selection.


In Class 2A, Collinsville had four players selected. Kendrick McAdams was on the Elite team, Raul Castorena and Dylan Kays were on the second team and Charles Martin was picked honorable mention.


Tom Bean had two players picked. Bryce Grier and Anthony Karleskint were honorable mention.


Honey Grove had two players chosen. Aaron Nelson was on the first team and Zeke Woods was honorable mention.
