DURANT, Okla. — Following his effort in leading Southeastern Oklahoma State to a split, Kevin Buckingham has been named the Great American Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The Savage Storm dropped an overtime contest at Oklahoma Baptist to open league play but bounced back with a convincing win over Southwestern Oklahoma State to even the conference record at 1-1 and move the overall mark to 4-1.

Buckingham averaged a double-double on the week with 27 points and 12.5 rebounds per contest.

He started with a 30-point effort in an 80-77 overtime loss at OBU, while shooting 14-of-20 from the floor with a pair of threes and added 14 rebounds.

He followed that up with a 24-point outing in a 92-77 road win over SWOSU, shooting 9-of-13 from the floor with two more threes and hauling in 11 rebounds.

Southeastern will be back in action on at 7:30 p.m. Thursday when it hosts Southern Nazarene.
