The Denison girls cross country team won the team title at its Waterloo Run and Sherman’s Libby Ticknor placed third on Saturday.

Denison totaled 48 points, seven ahead of Denton Braswell, with four top-10 finishes. Zaycia Guthrie was fourth with a time of 21.45.86, Ashlinn Hamilton was fifth in 21:51.20, Roni Douda placed ninth at 22.12.77 and Paige McMillan was 10th in 22:32.80. Reagan McClure was 20th in 23:51.46, followed immediately by Emory Redwine in 24:00.70 and Brilee Payne was 24th at 24:23.12.

Ticknor led Sherman to a fifth-place finish with 95 points. She was third in 21:26.61 while Lizbeth Sanchez was 14th in 22:57.03, Maria Sanchez placed 22nd in 24:08.44, Fatima Terrazas was 26th in 24:33.49, Yesenia Martinez was 30th in 24:46.61, Kursten Alexander placed 33rd in 25:15.58 and Presleigh Walser was 37th in 26:16.91.

In the varsity girls 3,200, Van Alstyne won the team title and Gunter was third behind individual champion Sarah Denton, who won in 13:03.83.

Van Alstyne’s G’Daiya Hall was the runner-up in 13:47.16 and Melissa’s Alison Kocsis was third at 13:51.69.
