OKLAHOMA CITY — Southeastern Oklahoma State’s Zach James fired three rounds in the 60s to win the individual title and pace the Savage Storm to a second-place finish at The GAC Preview at Lake Hefner Golf Course.
James, a Whitesboro native, opened with a 65 in the first round before carding a 69 in. He then had a tournament-best 63 to finish with a 197 to win by seven shots.
As a team, Southeastern carded a first-round tally of 278 and followed it up with a 282 before closing out the event by matching the low round of 272 to finish at 832, three shots behind Southern Arkansas, which won the team title.
Southeastern finished six shots up on Oklahoma Baptist in third.
Jordan Holifield checked in next for the Storm in a tie for seventh with a 209.
Hayden Foster, a Pottsboro native, was not far off that pace in a tie for 12th to finish at 211.
Bryce Hughes followed up a three-round score of 218 to finish 27th.
Ryan Ward was the final team member to finish with a 220 and tied for 34th.
Southeastern also had a pair of individuals with Lenny Trotta shooting a 225 and tied for 41st.
Ryan Capps had a 232 and finished 51st.
