It took the Austin College men’s soccer team until the second half to get on the board but the ‘Roos came away with a 3-0 victory over Johnson & Wales University on Sunday in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play at the Dr. Jack R. Pierce Memorial Soccer Complex.

In the second half Juan Ramirez ripped a shot from 20 yards for the first goal just 49 seconds out of half-time. Ramirez scored again four minutes later to put the ‘Roos (2-1-1, 1-1) on top 2-0.

The ‘Roos added their third goal in the 63rd minute when Phillip Le played a pass across the box and Garrett Goyen punched it in from six yards out for the first goal of his collegiate career. Le also assisted on the second goal for Ramirez.

Austin College finished the match with a 29-6 shot advantage, with Joseph Khalaf needing to make just one save to earn the clean sheet.
