DURANT, Okla. — Southeastern Oklahoma State football was picked to finish fourth according to the the Great American Conference preseason poll.
The Savage Storm earned 86 points as well as garnering one of the 12 first-place votes and was tied with Arkansas Tech in the poll.
Harding was named the preseason favorite with 118 points and eight first-place votes while Ouachita Baptist was next with 111 points and two first-place nods.
Southern Arkansas checked in third with 91 points and the remaining first-place vote while Henderson State was sixth with 81 points.
Arkansas-Monticello was picked seventh, followed by Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene. Southwestern Oklahoma State was next in at 10th, with East Central and Oklahoma Baptist rounding out the poll.
Southeastern finished 2017 with a 7-4 record. The Storm return its top four rushers from a season ago, highlighted by Rashod Polk who finished with 727 yards and seven touchdowns, as well as two of its top three receivers in Jaylen Sims and Skye Lowe who combined for 60 catches, nearly 800 yards and four touchdowns.
The defense returns Troy Parker, who picked up 58 tackles and an interception and Seu Luafatasaga, who recorded 52 stops and 5.5 TFL and a pair of forced fumbles.
Southeastern opens the season August 30 when it hosts Southern Nazarene at 6 p.m. at Paul Laird Field.
