SUNNYVALE — Erin Blackburn was 3-for-4 and scored three times, including the go-ahead run as Howe scored twice in the top of the seventh of a 6-4 victory in Game 2 to finish off a sweep of Mineola in a Class 3A Region II quarterfinal series on Saturday.
Howe (16-11) will face New Boston in the region semifinals this week.
Torrey Stubblefield singled and drove in three runs, Payton Griffin was 2-for-4 and scored and Peyton Streetman and Chloe Loftice each singled, drove in a run and scored for the Lady Bulldogs.
Stubblefield threw a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and five walks as Howe opened the series with a 4-0 victory on Friday. Cassidy Anderson singled and drove in two runs, Streetman was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored and Blackburn and Hannah Dwyer each singled and scored for the Lady Bulldogs.
Pilot Point 4, Ponder 3
ARGYLE — Paige Cox’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave Pilot Point a sweep of Ponder in a Class 3A Region II quarterfinal series on Saturday.
Pilot Point (30-6) will face Hughes Springs in the region semifinals this week.
Daniela Medina was 3-for-3 and scored, Bailey Stewart was 2-for-4, Kenedee Gist and Christine Billmeier drove in runs and Maiah Morris scored twice for the Lady Bearcats.
Ponder (17-20) had tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh.
Billmeier scattered four hits, doubled, drove in a run, scored and walked four times in Pilot Point’s 7-0 victory in Game 1 on Friday night. Brooke Lane was 2-for-5 with two RBI and scored twice, Medina was 2-for-3 and drove in a run and Stewart singled, drove in a run and scored for the Lady Bearcats.
Class 4A Region II
Crandall 6, Celina 0
PLANO — Kalea Kellum was 2-for-3 with a double for Celina but Crandall shut out the Lady Bobcats in the deciding game of their Class 4A Region II quarterfinal series at Plano West on Saturday.
Shayla Dell’Anno was 2-for-3 and Colbie Balsamo singled for Celina (22-7).
Crandall (31-4) forced the deciding contest with a 2-0 victory earlier in the day.
Micayla Galloway doubled and walked while Alexys Ginegaw, Kellum and Dell’Anno singled for the Lady Bobcats.
Kellum was 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored as Celina won the series opener, 3-2, on Friday night. Hannah Ubanoski doubled and drove in two runs, Dell’Anno was 2-for-3 with a double and Galloway and Grace Cantu each singled and scored for the Lady Bobcats.
Decatur 6, Bonham 5
PROSPER — The Bonham Lady Warriors were eliminated from the postseason after falling to Decatur (23-4) 6-5 in nine inning in Game 3 of their Class 4A Region II quarterfinal series at Prosper on Saturday.
Decatur rallied to take a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh before Bonham (24-9) tied the game in the seventh.
The game stayed until the ninth inning until the Lady Eagles scored two runs in the top of the sixth. The Lady Warriors scored on one run in the bottom of the inning but were unable to complete the comeback.
Decatur forced the deciding contest with a 10-0 victory earlier in the day.
Bonham opened the series with a 3-2 victory in eight innings on Friday night when Mackenzie Downs scored on a steal of home with two outs. Shelby Jones was 2-for-4 and scored, Raegan Shackelford singled and drove in a run, Downs scored twice and Brooke Aaron doubled for the Lady Warriors.
Class 2A Region II
Bells 10, Honey Grove 1
ANNA — Chesney Blount was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI and Mia Moore was 2-for-4 with a home run as Bells defeated Honey Grove in a Class 2A Region II quarterfinal match-up on Friday.
Bells (22-6) advances to the region semifinal and faces Bosqueville this week.
Ashley Sloan, Bella Smith and Gabby Smith all homered and drove in two runs while Cheyenne Floyd struck out eight and gave up an unearned run and two hits for the Lady Panthers.
Isabella Morrison singled and scored while Kelsee Frost added a hit for Honey Grove (22-5).
Axtell 11, Trenton 0
RED OAK — The Trenton Lady Tigers were eliminated from the playoffs as Axtell earned a region quarterfinal victory on Friday night.
This is the second straight week that Axtell has eliminated a Texoma team after beating Tom Bean in the area round last week.
The Lady Tigers finish the season at 24-6.
Crawford 4, Collinsville 2
FORT WORTH — Tayla Evans walked twice and scored for Collinsville but Crawford eliminated the Lady Pirates with a sweep in their 2A Region II quarterfinal series at North Crowley on Saturday.
Tannah Evans walked and scored while Carrie Johnson and Gracie Cavin singled for the Lady Pirates (25-5).
Crawford (26-3) faces Axtell in the region semifinals this week.
Collinsville opened the series with a 5-0 loss on Friday night. Tannah Evans singled and walked twice while Johnson singled and walked for the Lady Pirates.
TAPPS Division IV
Texoma Christian 8, Temple Central 6
BURLESON — The Texoma Christian Lady Eagles used a huge comeback to advance to the TAPPS Division IV state tournament with a victory over Temple Central Christian at Burleson on Saturday.
TCS (10-0) will face Bryan St. Joseph in a state semifinal at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Crosby. It is the second straight state tournament appearance and the fourth overall, all since 2013, for the program.
Temple Central Christian, which eliminated the Lady Eagles in the state semifinals last season, built a 5-0 lead going to the bottom of the fifth inning.
Texoma Christian then scored a run and put up seven runs in the bottom of the sixth to complete the comeback.
