ALLEN — Dalton Souther was 3-for-3, drove in a run and scored twice during Denison’s season-opening loss against Allen on Thursday night.

Wilson Kirkbride was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, Seth Thomas tripled and scored and Luke Kirkbride doubled for the Yellow Jackets, who are scheduled to play Vista Ridge today at 11 a.m. at Allen and then Frisco Liberty at 4 p.m. and then finish the week against Rowlett at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, also at Allen.

Denison fell behind 8-0 in the first inning and then got a pair of runs in the second when Souther drove in Thomas with a single to left and Christian Ruebeck’s groundout to the pitcher scored Souther.

The deficit was down to four runs after the Jackets picked up two runs on Wilson Kirkbride’s double to center in the top of the fourth but Allen, which totaled 11 hits and walked eight times, responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to push the lead back to what eventually finished as the final margin.
