BELLS — Defending Class 2A state champion Bells opened its season with a comeback 11-7 victory against Howe on Wednesday, scoring a combined nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Harvest Call was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and scored twice, Gabby Smith was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs, Marlee Martin singled and drove in three runs and Mia Moore was 2-for-2 and scored twice for Bells.

Peyton Streetman was 3-for-5 with two RBI, Payton Griffin was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs, Hannah Dwyer homered and Erin Blackburn doubled and scored for Howe.

Paris 14, Blue Ridge 6

PARIS — Kelcie Jenkins was 4-for-4 with two triples and two stolen bases during Blue Ridge’s season-opening loss against Paris on Monday.

Alyda Hernandez was 3-for-4 with a double and two steals and Haley Bates was 2-for-4 with a double for Blue Ridge.

The Lady Tigers will compete in the Melissa Tournament with a game today at 9 a.m. against Gunter and then face Paris again at 1 p.m. on Friday followed by a 3 p.m. game against S&S.
