Austin College men’s basketball player Justice Mercadel has been honored by as a member of its National Team of the Week, following a sensational weekend in a pair of games for the ‘Roos.

Mercadel, a freshman guard from Little Elm, averaged 25.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 4.5 steals-per-game while shooting 59 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range in narrow road losses to Schreiner and Trinity.

Mercadel had career-highs of 31 points and 15 rebounds to go along with seven assists against the Tigers, while scoring 20 points with six steals against Schreiner.

For the year, Mercadel leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in steals per game and also ranks in the top 15 in the conference in scoring, rebounding, assists, and blocked shots.

For the second time this season, Austin College women’s basketball player Bryce Frank has been named to the National Team of the Week.

Frank, a junior forward from Granbury, averaged 28 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game while shooting better than 53 percent from the field and 83% from the free throw line in a win over Schreiner and a loss at No. 15-ranked Trinity. In the game against Trinity, Frank poured in a career-high 32 points and pulled down 15 rebounds while handing out six assists.

For the year, Frank is in the top three in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in scoring, rebounding, and assists, and also leads the SCAC in field goal percentage while ranking in the top five in free throw percentage.
