TERRELL — Katie Graham’s goal in the second half gave the Denison Lady Yellow Jackets a 2-1 season-opening victory against Tyler Chapel Hill at the Terrell Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

Chapel Hill scored first and Christina Hernandez tied the match in the first half before Graham’s goal proved to be the difference.

Brylie Maxson assisted on both goals and Ashlyn Creswell made six saves for Denison, which continues tourney play against Terrell today at 11:30 a.m. and then faces Summit Prep at 2 p.m.


Georgetown Tournament

Leander 1, Sherman 0

GEORGETOWN — Leander notched the only goal of the match with 10 minutes left in the first half and held on for a season-opening victory against the Bearcats at the Georgetown Tournament on Thursday.

“They outplayed us in the first half but we regrouped and dominated the second half but we just couldn’t score,” Sherman head coach Chico Aleman said.

Gerald Clark and Miguel Ramirez each played a half in net for the Bearcats, who continue tournament play today at 2 p.m. against Kingwood Park and finish at 10 a.m. on Saturday against Waco Connally.
