DURANT, Okla. — Southeastern Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball has been picked to finish fourth in the Great American Conference according to the league’s preseason poll.

The Savage Storm garnered 82 points and finished behind Arkansas Tech, while Harding was the favorite to win the league, earning 11 of the 12 first-place votes, with Southwestern Oklahoma State picked second.

Ouachita Baptist checked in fifth behind Southeastern, with East Central right behind them in sixth.

The Storm are coming off a 17-10 season a year ago and finished tied for third in the conference standings.

Southeastern returns top scorer and All-GAC honoree Katie Webb, a Melissa native who averaged 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds as a sophomore. Among the returning starters is Sherman native Sa’Liesha Hunter, who averaged 7.6 points and four assists last year.

Southeastern opens the season by hosting the GAC/MIAA Challenge Nov. 10-11 at Bloomer Sullivan Arena against Central Oklahoma at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Northeastern State at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
