ANNA — Brooke Aaron was 2-for-3 with a double during Bonham’s 10-1 loss in a District 11-4A tie-breaker game at Anna on Monday night.
Bonham (25-7) enters the postseason as the district’s second seed and will face Caddo Mills in the bi-district round of the Class 4A Region II playoffs later this week.
Aubrey (23-6) claimed the top seed for the playoffs and will take on Ferris. Bonham, Aubrey and Celina all tied for first place and forced the need for the tie-breaking tournament. Celina took the third seed after Bonham beat the Lady Bobcats on Friday.
This match-up was hitless until Aubrey broke through with a nine-run fourth inning, highlighted by Jessica Steinhoff’s grand slam. Alyx Gray was 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored twice and Jessica Grimes drove in two runs while Laney Roos limited Bonham to an unearned run on four hits and struck out five with no walks.
Shelby Jones singled to start the bottom of the fourth for Bonham and Aaron singled with one out but both runners were left stranded in scoring position.
In the bottom of the sixth, Jones scored on a one-out error in center field as the Lady Warriors trailed 10-1. Aaron doubled with two outs.
Sidney Sewell had Bonham’s other hit, a single leading off the seventh.
