DENTON — Sebastian Cienfuegos' long goal staked Sherman to a 1-0 lead in the opening half, but Denton High rallied for a 2-1 win on Tuesday night in District 5-5A boys soccer action.
Cienfuegos shot 40 yards away over the Denton keeper's head and into the net with 21:20 showing in the first half, but the Bearcats relaxed and the Broncos (6-5, 1-1) tied the game on a similar deep shot from outside of the penalty area for a 1-1 contest at intermission.
Denton's winning goal was on a penalty kick that was initially saved by Bearcat keeper Miguel Ramirez, but the Broncos scored on a rebound with 21:20 left in the game.
Ramirez was in goal for the second half after Joel Nandin played the first half.
The Bearcats (3-6, 1-1) will host Denton Braswell Friday night at 7:15 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.

Denton’s Grace Wiltgen recorded a hat trick, leading the undefeated Lady Broncos to a win over the Lady Cats at Bearcat Stadium.
Olivia Burns added two goals and Kimya Raietparvar one to round out the scoring for Denton (9-0-1, 2-0).
Taylor Wuestenfeld just missed on a couple of chances and Leidy Sibrian managed a few shots for the Lady Cats (3-5, 0-2), who will travel to Denton Braswell Friday night looking for their first district win of the season.
