Taylor Wuestenfeld scored two goals and Sherman’s girls soccer team dominated from the start, rolling to a 4-1 win against Paris North Lamar on Tuesday night at Bearcat Stadium in the team’s final warm-up for district play.
The Lady Cats took 31 shots to North Lamar’s three.
Bailey Tillotson opened the scoring when she broke free on a through ball about 20 minutes into the first half and placed it in the corner for a 1-0 halftime lead. In the second half, a bending 25-yard shot from Wuestenfeld made it 2-0. North Lamar scored about five minutes later, but Wuestenfeld answered with a goal where she dribbled through the defense about a minute later. Veronica Sosa added the final goal with a few minutes left, attacking the goal from the wing.
“Lots of great chances and good play from (Lourden) Bell and (Brittny) Thomas in the middle,” coach Anthony Shearer said. “Finish pre-district 3-3 with a positive goal differential, so I’m happy with the momentum we’re taking into district.”
The Lady Cats open their District 5-5A slate Friday night at Wichita Falls Rider.
