LITTLE ELM — Jaylyn Cleamons scored 21 points and Jeremy Norvell added 19 as Sherman eased past Denton Braswell, 65-54, in a District 5-5A game on Tuesday night.


The win keeps the Bearcats (17-8, 4-3) solidly in fourth place in the district, a half-game behind Denton Ryan and two games in the loss column ahead of fifth-place Wichita Falls.


Daishawn Nelson added 11 points for Sherman, and Kemonte Dowdy finished with nine.


The Bengals led 14-11 after one, but the Bearcats used an 18-5 second period to take a 10-point edge at the break.


The Bearcats will host Ryan in a potential playoff seeding battle Friday night at 7:30 p.m.


WF Rider 72, Denison 40


RIDER — Tarrence Gaines scored 10 points during Denison’s district loss against Wichita Falls Rider.


Noah Burden added nine points while Jalen Hess and Christian Ruebeck added five points apiece for Denison (5-20, 0-7), which hosts first-place Denton on Friday night.


District 11-4A Anna 52, Princeton 47


ANNA — Elijah Smith scored 16 points as Anna defeated Princeton.


Keamoni Mattocks added 15 points and Forest Durrett chipped in nine points for Anna (19-7, 3-1), which remained tied with Aubrey in first place.


Aubrey 77, Celina 67


CELINA — Knox Hall scored 17 points during Celina’s district loss against Aubrey.


Hayden Hollin added 17 points and Karson Stastny chipped in 13 points for Celina.


District 9-3A Whitesboro 68, Pottsboro 54


WHITESBORO — Jonathan Hamon scored a dozen points to lead three Whitesboro players in double-figure scoring in the Bearcats’ win against Pottsboro.


Preston Johnson scored 11 points and Brenden Wilson added 11 points and four assists for Whitesboro (13-3, 4-3). Weston Hickman finished with nine points and six rebounds, Cody Robinson had eight points and four steals, and Noah Robinson had six points and eight rebounds.


Ethyn Snider scored a game-high 19 for Pottsboro (14-9, 3-4), which dropped out of a three-way tie for third place with Whitesboro and Gunter.


Gunter 56, Callisburg 34


CALLISBURG — Logan Nelson scored 22 points as Gunter defeated Callisburg.


Tyler Scott added 13 points while Quinten Layman and Nick Gonzalez each finished with six points for Gunter, which stayed in a tie with Whitesboro for third place.


Caleb Andrews and Preston Duke each had six points for Callisburg.


District 10-3A Van Alstyne 59, Whitewright 39


WHITEWRIGHT — Noah Boling scored 13 points as second-place Van Alstyne defeated Whitewright.


Landon Pardee and Tyler Sperry each finished with 10 points for Van Alstyne (16-9, 6-1).


Desmond McNiel had 23 points and Will Stephens added 11 points for Whitewright (10-13, 3-4), which plays at Howe on Friday.


District 12-2A Bells 37, Collinsville 32


COLLINSVILLE — Hunter Hawthorne had nine points and 10 rebounds as Bells defeated Collinsville.


Maverick Priest added eight points, Tyler Hawthorne finished with six points, five rebounds and four steals and Colby Meek scored five points for Bells.


Sam Rayburn 58, Tom Bean 52


IVANHOE — Keoni Puana had 15 points, five assists and four rebounds in Tom Bean’s district loss against Sam Rayburn.


Noah Boyd and Bryce Grier each finished with 10 points and Garrett Gomez added nine points and five rebounds for Tom Bean (15-8, 2-2).
