Caitlyn Collins scored 11 of her game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter as the Austin College women’s basketball team held off the University of Dallas 64-59 on Friday night in Hughey Gym en route to a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference sweep.
Collins hit 7-of-14 shots and added a pair of steals to her game-high point total, while Kendall Heitmeier finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals for the ‘Roos (11-4, 3-1). Bryce Frank added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Olivia Bailey grabbed eight boards and dished out seven assists in the victory.
The Austin College men completed the doubleheader sweep by taking a 50-32 lead into halftime and never looking back, topping Dallas, 77-66.
Brian Baehl and Austin Wells led a balanced scoring attack with 13 apiece, and Baehl added four assists while Wells hit 3-of-6 3-pointers. Jeremy Swisher added 11 points and three assists, and JP Feider finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Justin Wade came up just short of a double-double, scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds for the ‘Roos (6-9, 2-2).
