Police arrest ag assault suspect
Wednesday afternoon, the Sherman Police Department released information related to an incident that took place Wednesday morning in the city. The police detailed a incident that involved shots fired and a brief stand off incident near Vietnam Veterans Parkway in Sherman.
“On Wednesday 08-13-2025 at 1015 hours, Sherman Dispatch received a call from a male who reported his father, 49-year-old Shannon Dean, pointed a firearm at him and then shot at him,” the release said. “The caller further stated Dean forced all of his family out of the residence at gunpoint, including a young child, while Dean remained inside.”
Officers responded to the 1600 block of East Vietnam Veterans Parkway to investigate.
“Initially, Dean refused to come outside, and a brief standoff ensued,” the release said. “Eventually, Dean exited the residence and was taken into custody.
According to police, Dean was interviewed at the Sherman Police Department.
“A search warrant was executed at the residence and multiple pieces of evidence were obtained, supporting the initial allegation,” the release said. “Nobody was injured during the incident. Dean was arrested on four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and transported to the Grayson County Jail.”
This investigation is ongoing.
Police arrest barricaded suspect following warrant service
The Denison Police also released information related to an event that took place in the city Wednesday morning. In their news release, they detailed an incident that involved a barricaded individual following an attempt to serve a warrant at the Denison Inn.
“At approximately 10:00 a.m., Denison PD conducted a warrant service at that location,” the release said. “The wanted person barricaded themselves in a bathroom. Officers also had information they had a juvenile with them. Negotiators responded and established communication with the individual. Other tactical assets arrived in case the incident escalated. The suspect surrendered without incident. The juvenile was safely released to Child Protective Services. The suspect was subsequently arrested for multiple warrants, to include felony warrants.”
The Denison police took the time to thank those who assisted in the successful arrest of the suspect.
“We are thankful the incident concluded safely and appreciate the support of the assisting agencies, including Denison Fire Rescue, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, & Sherman Police Department,” the release said.
