SONIC Donates $10,000 to Support Sherman Schools 

Funding made possible by local SONIC ranking amongst top locations in the nation during
2025 DR PEPPER SONIC GAMES
In a news release issued Thursday morning, SONIC announced it will help fund some classroom projects for some Grayson County area public schools. In the release, SONIC said they have donated $10,000 this month on behalf of the SONIC located at 925 N. 5th Street in Gunter.
Money will be used to fund projects in Gunter, Van Alstyne, Howe and other cities.
SONIC today announced that the brand has donated $10,000 this month to fund classroom projects at Sherman area public schools in honor of a nearby SONIC® location being recognized as one in the Top 50 SONICs in the country this year,” the release said. “To honor the SONIC crew at 925 N. 8th Street, the SONIC® Foundation donated $10,000 to support area schools, students and educators. The donation funded educational projects on DonorsChoose, a website that allows people to donate directly to classroom requests submitted by public school teachers across the U.S. “

The teachers and their associated school to receive part of the funding are Ms. Reeves, Ms. Florletta and Coach Grant at Gunter High School, Mrs. Ploch at Gunter Elementary, Ms. Hulsey at Gunter Middle, Mrs. Sutterfield at Summit Hill Elementary, Mrs. Caywood of Bob and Lola Sanford Elementary, Ms. Roberts at Howe Middle, Mrs. Ferguson and Ms. Carter of Howe Intermediate, and Coach Parrish and Ms. Miyara of Van Alstyne High.

“This local funding is part of a larger nationwide effort to honor the Top 50 teams in the DR PEPPER® SONIC® GAMES, an annual SONIC training initiative,” the release said. “In total, the SONIC Foundation will donate $500,000 in September to fund educational projects in schools across the country in honor of the Top 50 SONIC locations.”
According to the release, SONIC donates a portion of every drink, slush and shake purchase to the SONIC Foundation to be used by local schools across the communities SONIC services.

Since 2009, SONIC has donated more than $30 million to funding local classrooms, becoming one of the largest programs to support public education in the U.S.
