Sherman residents aged 55 years and older can get a firsthand look at construction of the new stadium at Sherman High School and walk the halls of the new Fairview Elementary School during the Sherman ISD Silver Cats Tour on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The tour will begin with check-in at the Sherman ISD Service Center at 2701 N. Loy Lake Road. A shuttle bus will be used to visit each location, and lunch will be provided by SHS culinary arts students.
Participants will need to wear closed-toed shoes and long pants to tour the stadium construction site. The new, 8,000-seat multipurpose stadium will open in fall 2026 and serve a variety of SISD athletic and fine arts programs, including football, soccer, track and field, band, cheer, Hi-Steppers and more.
Historic Bearcat Stadium will continue to be used for middle school and youth sports after the new stadium opens.
The new Fairview Elementary School is among three new elementary schools that opened this fall in Sherman ISD. It replaced the original campus built in the 1950s and features a large courtyard, grade-level collaboration spaces and a gymnasium that also serves as a storm shelter.
To honor Fairview’s history, wood from the bench seating at the former campus was incorporated in the reception area, and brick dedication pavers were relocated to the new courtyard with room to add more.
“The Silver Cats Tour is a great way to experience what’s new with Sherman schools and see the exciting opportunities available to our students,” said Julie Kerr, director of Partners in Education. “Silver Cats are an important part of our community, and they learn so much on each tour.”
Limited space is available. Please call or email Kerr at 903-891-8733 or jkerr@shermanisd.net to RSVP.
