Are you passionate about empowering the next generation? Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?
Sherman ISD is actively recruiting community members to serve as mentors to 4th-12th grade students and make a lasting impact on their lives.
The school district believes that every student deserves someone in their corner, someone who can provide guidance and support. By dedicating just 30 minutes per week during the 2025-26 school year, you can become that person for a student.
Why become a Sherman ISD mentor?
Inspire and guide. By becoming a mentor, you can inspire and guide students as they navigate their academic journey. Your experience and knowledge can make a difference and help them overcome challenges.
Build confidence. Many students lack confidence in their abilities. As a mentor, you have the power to encourage and empower students, helping them build the self-assurance needed to succeed academically and in life.
Meaningful connections. By meeting with your mentee during lunchtime, you have the chance to form a close bond. These connections can be transformative for both you and the student, providing a sense of belonging and support.
Pay it forward. Remember the people who helped you along the way? This is your opportunity to pay it forward. By becoming a mentor, you can make a positive impact in your community, creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond the school year.
Prospective mentors are encouraged to begin the process by filling out the application form at www.shermanisd.net/mentor. There will be a mandatory training session on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Sherman ISD Service Center, 2701 N. Loy Lake Road.
Become a mentor and join Sherman ISD in inspiring and challenging every student to reach their full potential!
