The Sherman Evening Lions Club will host its Seventh Annual CASI Sanctioned Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The event will be held at the 903 Brewers Tap Room, 221 W. Houston St., Sherman, TX 75090.
The event will be family friendly starting with a Special Breakfast Menu, courtesy of the 903 Brewers. Other family friendly activities will be available throughout the day.
Cooking and judging for the cook-off is open to the public. Local cooks will compete along side CASI cooks for recognition and awards unless they choose to participate in “People’s Choice” only.
The cook-off will be sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) which is the governing organization for the World Championship Chili Cook-Off in Terlingua, Texas and points earned for entering one of the top ten chili entries will go toward that championship. In addition, for the first time all CASI cooks alongside local cooks will be given the choice of providing extra “Throw Down” to allow visitors to taste and judge them in a “People’s Choice“ category.
A “People’s Choice category is being added to allow anyone to cook and be judged by the public. A $10.00 Donation allows a sampling of each entry in the People’s Choice category and one vote for their favorite chili. Judging will be based on the number of tickets turned for each participant.
The Sherman Evening Lions will hold a 50/50 raffle which will be split between the winner of the drawing and the Lions Club at the end of the event. In addition, there will be a Silent Auction and Live Music provided by the 903 Brewers.
The entry fee for all cook-off participants will be $25.00. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., CASI cooks meeting at 10 a.m. and turn-in for judging will be 1 p.m., Awards presentation at 2 p.m. People’s Choice participants turn in will be at 12 Noon to prepare for judging.
