Sherman barbecue restaurant to celebrate 5 years at location

Magic Smoke in Sherman will be hosting a 5 year anniversary celebration this month. The event to be held on Oct. 13 will celebrate five years since the barbecue restaurant opened its doors at 2600 N. Travis Street in Sherman.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be three food trucks on site along with Magic Smoke.

“We will have a sweets truck, a dessert truck,” Magic Smoke owner Marcus Pride said last week. “We will have a seafood truck and I am in the works with getting a taco truck. Hopefully, we will be able to get a snow cone truck too.”

Pride has been operating Magic Smoke as a food truck since 2013 and is often in attendance at local festivals like Sherman Arts Fest and Hot Summer Nights and with that truck.

“Come celebrate,” he said. “We will have that day’s specials for the event. It will be a big celebration. It will be a great opportunity to enjoy everything that will be there.”

While the last five years have been hard with construction sometimes affecting the corner near Magic Smoke, Pride says his customers have really been behind him and supportive of the restaurant.

“My customers do the best marketing for me” Pride said. “I get a lot of new people. We see a lot of people who are doing work in the area that come up from the construction sites and different parts of the city. My customers help me out a lot. We try to have the best customer service and some great food. We want to do the right thing to get people to come, but my customers have the best word of mouth.”
