Sami Powers finished with two kills and 29 assists in the game, which the Lady Cats dedicated to Powers’ mother, Sheryl, on the one-year anniversary of her death. Fans and players wore purple in memory of Sheryl Powers, who was the principal at Neblett Elementary.

Caroline LeCrone served three aces and had four kills, while Jayzhia Softly had four kills and four blocks for the Lady Cats. Mary Kate Motley finished with 14 assists, and Paige Aleman contributed 13 digs.

The Lady Cats (19-11, 4-4) clinched a winning season for the first time since 2005 and moved into a tie for fourth place with Wylie East, with a crucial district match at East on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Sherman coach Cynthia Bruton said senior libero Kelsey Jarvis may be back for the match, after Jarvis suffered a minor knee injury on Friday against Denison.

McKinney North def. Denison 3-0

Jamiah Ballard finished with nine kills for Denison but McKinney North defeated the Lady Yellow Jackets, 25-8, 25-12, 25-22.

Katie Mithlo had three kills and a pair of digs Melanie Garcia, Dee Harris and Sahara Crawford chipped in two kills apiece, Sara Shumaker handed out 12 assists and Lexi Williams collected five digs for Denison (6-25, 0-8), which hosts Royse City on Friday.

District 12-3A Melissa def. Princeton 3-0

MELISSA — Madison Rose had nine kills and five digs as Melissa defeated Princeton, 25-12, 25-22, 25-21.

Connar Newberry put down seven kills, Riley Duzenack added seven kills, four aces and 18 assists, Whitney Taylor finished with six kills, Amber Melcher chipped in 16 assists and eight digs and Ashley Henger collected 13 digs for Melissa (22-3, 4-0), which has the district bye on Friday and will play a non-district match at Pilot Point.

District 11-2A Bells def. P’boro 3-1

BELLS — Third-place Bells defeated second-place Pottsboro, 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 26-24.

Darby Wallace had 12 kills and six blocks, Bailey Wilson added seven kills, 12 assists and 14 digs, Tatum Marburger finished with six kills and 16 digs, Ansleigh Oakley collected 29 digs, Lindsey Evans totaled 17 digs and Kelli Frye chipped in 16 digs for Pottsboro (17-9, 6-2).

Bells (21-8, 5-3) will travel to Howe on Friday night while Pottsboro is at Whitewright on Saturday morning.

WHITEWRIGHT — Anna Shope had 15 assists, eight kills, seven digs and three aces as Whitewright defeated Howe, 25-18, 25-16, 25-23.

Sydney Brummett totaled 12 digs and eight kills, while Shelby Poe added 14 digs, four kills and two aces for Whitewright (13-16, 5-3).

Zada Swoopes put down seven kills, Hatty Shope handed out six assists, Alyssa Benjamin had five digs and Daley Wylie added four kills for Whitewright. Madi Williams collected three digs, while Landry Rhoten garnered two kills and two digs.

S&S def. W’boro 3-0

SADLER — Kristen Phelps had nine kills and four digs for Whitesboro but S&S defeated the Lady Bearcats, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24.

Kylin Lemons added eight kills and eight digs, Kristen McCanlies chipped in six kills, 12 assists and three digs, Kacie Jones put down five kills, Terilyn Bufkin collected 17 digs, Casey Lang handed 12 assists and Kerigan McCanlies totaled 10 digs for Whitesboro, which hosts Callisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

District 12-2A Gunter def. Farmersville 3-0

GUNTER — Mikayla Watson had 16 kills and 16 assists as Gunter defeated Farmersville, 25-12, 25-14, 27-25.

Katey Campbell added five kills and nine digs, Regan Hestand chipped in four kills and 15 digs, Breanna Adkins finished with 12 assists and nine digs, Lana Green totaled 10 assists and seven digs and Mackenzie Mazerolle collected 11 digs for Gunter (19-6, 6-1).

District 11-A Collinsville def. Valley View 3-0

VALLEY VIEW — Cally Johnson had 15 kills and 23 digs as Collinsville defeated Valley View, 25-21, 25-13, 25-13.

Brooke Johnson added 11 kills, three blocks and 16 digs, Callie Woolsey chipped in two kills, nine digs and two aces, Holly Theall finished with 13 assist and nine digs and Morgan Irelan totaled 12 assists and 19 digs for Collinsville (14-13, 6-2), which hosts Lindsay at 4 p.m. on Friday.

District 17-A Dodd City def. Savoy 3-0

DODD CITY — Christina Francis had eight digs and five assists for Savoy but Dodd City defeated the Lady Cardinals, 25-12, 25-14, 25-18.

Lindsey Stone added five kills, Hanna White chipped in three kills. Jerica Isom handed out four assists and Kaitlyn Knight collected 13 digs for Savoy.
