Scott Alan Cole, 72, died peacefully in his sleep on April 23 at his place of residence in Denison. Memorial service will be held at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison on May 20 at 2 pm. Born May 21, 1950, in Miami, OK, his parents were Manual R. Cole and Helen Crouch Cole. Scott has one older brother, Ronnie Cole, who also lives in Denison. After the family moved to Denison from Miami in1956, Scott started school and attended Sam Houston Elementary School were he met many of his close friends who remained close to him throughout his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Denison High School and was a very popular classmate and an outstanding Thespian, participating in many theatre productions. Scott attended college at East Texas State University, now known as Texas A&M Commerce, where he was in the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and later attended the University of Houston. Following college, he worked in the family retail furniture store at Crouch Home Furnishings on Main Street in downtown Denison.
His love for theatre and acting was evident as he had lead roles in several plays at the Sherman Community Players Theatre. He moved to Houston in the early 80’s, purchased a home and lived there until 2020, when he moved back to Denison to be closer to friends and family. While in Houston he traveled to New York City annually to attend Broadway plays and shows. Scott is survived by his brother Ronnie Cole and wife Rita of Denison, nephew Regan Cole, niece Hillary Cloer and husband Stever of Denison, aunts Gracie Sanders of Lake Palestine, Peggy Cole and Peggy Cole (yes two aunts named Peggy) of Huntsville, TX, and many cousins. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Grayson Place and Guardian Hospice for taking such good care of Scott the past few months. They also want to acknowledge his closest friends who visited him frequently Myrna Mosier, John Lamb, Dennis Lloyd, Susan Khammash and Michael and Brenda Galgan. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation to the Denison Education Foundation or Sherman Community Players
