RONALD LINN FREEMAN

Ronald Linn Freeman, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at the age of 78 on Sunday, January 29, 2023, in Hospice at Carrus Hospital. Ronald (Ron) was born in Denison, Texas to Jack Rudolph Freeman and Lillie Janette Freeman. He attended schools in Sherman and Denison, Texas. During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Mate 2nd Class and was a jet engine mechanic. After his service, he returned home and had a 37 year career as a cable splicer with General Telephone/GTE/Verizon. During that time, he also earned his Associate of Applied Science from Grayson County College.

Ron was a devoted family man and loved his titles of husband, Dad/Daddio, and Papaw. He married the love of his life, Claire Ann, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on June 2, 1973, where they attended and raised their family in the parish. Later, he was an active parishioner at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Denison and was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a special relationship with his mother-in-law who he cared for, for many years. Ron loved traveling with his wife of 49.5 years and their children from the time they were young to adults. While the children were young, he and his wife enjoyed taking them camping, boating, and fishing. After that, he took up the sport of golf and always loved watching it. He will always be known as Mr. Fix-It by his wife and kids.

Ron is survived by his wife, Claire; son, Christian Scott Freeman (Amy); daughter, Alice Ann Freeman; son, Mark Freeman (Emily); grandchildren, Kendall Neese (Andy), Jesse Freeman, Jentry Freeman, and Zoey Breitkreutz; brothers and sisters, Sheila Shores (John), Terry Freeman, Joe Freeman (Debbie), and Jackie Freeman; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sherrel Freeman; and brother, Jimmy Dale Freeman.

Rosary Vigil will occur on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, which will immediately be followed by Family Visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 10:00am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Denison. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sherman.
