RAY GOMEZ

Ray Sepeda Gomez, 86, known as Dad, Papa, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, and Uncle Ray passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at his residence in Bells, Texas. Ray was born to Paul and Delores Gomez in Irving, Texas on August 3, 1936. He was raised in Irving, Texas where he graduated high school in 1955. Following graduation, he attended college before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country for 2 years and one could often see him wearing his Navy hat or clothing.

In 1959, Ray started his career at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas. He relocated to the TI in Sherman, Texas in 1969. He held numerous management positions and worked with many lifelong friends, including Shirley Caldwell, but most will remember him from the 3rd shift. He enjoyed early retirement in 1991, as it allowed him to spend time with family, and support his grandchildren in their many and various activities.

Ray enjoyed traveling the U.S. with friends, being outdoors fishing, and playing golf. When not outside he loved watching John Wayne and Gunsmoke. But the times he treasured most were spent with immediate and extended family whom he loved so much. Ray is survived by the families of his two sons, Mike and Kari Hastings of Bells, Texas, Kelly and Rebecca Gomez of Denison, Texas, grandchildren, Melissa Hastings, Kayla, and Cody Dailey, Caden and Emily Gomez, Garrett Gomez, Branigan Gomez and great grandson Finn Dailey.

He is also survived by one brother, Pete Gomez of Grand Prairie, Texas and one sister, Olivia Gomez Counce of Deming, New Mexico, a host of nieces and nephews, former wife and care giver Jannie Lamb, and others that loved him dearly. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Delores Gomez, and siblings Pauline Rendon, Fred Gomez, Johnny Gomez, Ramon Gomez, and Delores Gomez Escalante. A visitation will be held at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Heritage Nazarene Church on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. For those unable to attend in person, you may view the service from the Heritage Nazarene Church Facebook page.
