Ralph C. Ryan, Jr, passed peacefully March 30, 2022, in Hampton, Virginia surrounded by his family. Born in Sherman, Texas, on Dec 29, 1940, Ralph was the son of Marjorie Mae Rogers Ryan and Ralph C Ryan, Sr. He graduated from Sherman High School and attended Austin College and Southern Illinois Univ.

In 1961 he joined the US Navy. After retiring as an AE Senior Chief, Ralph served in the Merchant Marines. He started a new career as an exhibit specialist, first for Beyond Exhibits and then the Mariner’s Museum in Newport News. His love of the sea led to a life-long passion for sailboats and yacht racing.

Ralph was predeceased by his parents, brother Gary, and son Joseph C Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Teddie Jo Ryan, daughters Laura Lynn Ryan Floyd and Karyn Kathleen Ryan Godbout, sister Sonnie E Ryan Estes, granddaughters Kathleen Lynn Waldrop and Lena Ryan Naugle, grandson E J Naugle.

Memorial service will be held Saturday April 9, 2022, at 1:00pm at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Hampton, Virginia. Burial will be in Van Alstyne, Texas, at a later date. In leu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Mission Team of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Hampton, Virginia which assists in rebuilding after disasters.
